Acceptable Use Policy

Effective Date: April 20, 2026

This Acceptable Use Policy (“Policy”) governs your use of Candle (the “Services”). By using the Services, you agree to comply with this Policy.

Prohibited Content

You may not upload, share, or transmit through the Services any content that:

  • Depicts illegal activity or violates any applicable law
  • Contains child sexual abuse material (CSAM) or sexualized content involving minors
  • Violates any third party’s intellectual property, privacy, or other rights
  • Contains malware, viruses, or other harmful code
  • Harasses, threatens, or promotes violence against any person or group
  • Is deceptive, fraudulent, or misleading

We reserve the right to remove any content and terminate any account that violates these prohibitions.

Adult Content & NSFW Material

The Services contain and permit user-generated content that may include mature themes, adult content, and other material not suitable for minors. By using the Services, you acknowledge that you may encounter NSFW (Not Safe for Work) content, including intimate photos and discussions of adult topics. You are solely responsible for the content you upload and share with your Partner.

Your Responsibilities for NSFW Content

If you upload NSFW photos or explicit content, you represent and warrant that:

  • All individuals depicted have consented to the upload and sharing of such content
  • All individuals depicted are 18 years or older
  • The content is not illegal in any applicable jurisdiction
  • You have the right to share such content

You are solely responsible for any NSFW content you upload.

Prohibited Adult Content

Even though the Service permits adult content, the following is strictly prohibited:

  • Content depicting or sexualizing minors (anyone under 18)
  • Non-consensual intimate imagery (“revenge porn”)
  • Content depicting illegal sexual acts
  • Content that violates any applicable obscenity laws

Shared Content & Partner Interactions

Consent for Shared Content

Before sharing content with your Partner, you must:

  • Obtain consent from any individuals depicted in photos or videos
  • Ensure you have the legal right to share the content
  • Verify that all depicted individuals are 18 years or older (if NSFW content)

Responsibility for Partner Content

You are responsible for content you create and share. We do not monitor communications between paired users except when content is reported.

If you receive inappropriate, offensive, or harmful content from your Partner, you should:

  1. Report the content immediately to support@trycandle.app
  2. Unpair with the user
  3. If appropriate or you are in danger, contact law enforcement

We are not responsible for content shared between users.

Age Verification

By using the Services, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old. We rely on users to truthfully represent their age and on App Store age restrictions.

Enforcement

Content Review & Enforcement

We reserve the right, but are not obligated, to:

  • Review reported content for Terms of Service violations
  • Remove content that violates this Policy
  • Suspend or terminate accounts for violations
  • Report illegal content to law enforcement
  • Cooperate with law enforcement investigations

Reporting Timeline

We will review reported content as soon as reasonably possible. For reports involving child safety, imminent harm, or illegal content, we prioritize immediate review and may report to NCMEC and law enforcement as required by law.

No Obligation to Monitor

We do not proactively monitor user content. We rely on user reports to identify violations.
